The flower stem was growing out sideways from dense undergrowth. Nearest i can find was wild carrot or hogweed . Thanks for any replies  |

This one I'd say was almost certainly Hogweed, Heracleum sphondylium - with these Umbellifers, though, it usually helps to have a shot of the leaves for identification  The flowers are pretty similar across the whole lot of them  |

thanks david  . the stem was long and hidden in undergrowth .

wild carrot is one of the easy ones- it has a dark pink central flower & as far as I know none of the other umbellifers do |
