| | | Garden...new lens...awesome :D I spent 2 mins in the garden with my new tamron 90mm lens and got these two: (red clover and columbine)
It's amazing the difference it makes!
(I'm still getting used to the manual focus )

I think you could get even better results if you used a smaller aperture such as f16, which may mean using a tripod.

| | | Re: Garden...new lens...awesome :D I don't have a macro lens but on my camera you can quickly change the aperture.
If you have the camera in aperture mode and look through the viewfinder and rotate the little wheel next to the shutter button to quickly change aperture.

| | | Re: Garden...new lens...awesome :D Congratulations on the new lens . I know the results can be a bit exaspirating until you know how to use your lens properly but the great thing about that is you have an excuse to play with it as much as possible! Haha
I look forward to watching you improve

| | | Re: Garden...new lens...awesome :D Nice pics. leifus, and as the others have already said, a few minutes to learn how to get the best of of it at this stage will reap years and years of good photographs as reward.
You need to set your camera to aperture priority, and set f16 as the aperture. - The shutter speed will alter automatically to compensate for the aperture you set. (Although do experiment with f numbers either side of this, because every lens is different, and the optimum f number for depth of field whilst giving maximum sharpness of image quality on your particular lens might turn out to be f11, or even f22).
As I mentioned on the other thread, if you have the camera on a tripod, the slower shutter speeds that will occur as a result of the larger f numbers, shouldn't be too much of a problem. (Although this obviously assumes that the wind isn't blowing the flower about ).

one more question (I have worked out how to change the apperture etc) but what does a high/low apperture change about the pic/help you to do?
