| | | Garden campion for ID Is this Rose-of-heaven ( Silene coeli-rosa)??
That's the closest I can get, but the illustrations of it online aren't great - nor's the plant, for that matter, which was definitely past its best
Probably a casual, it was growing on a small wall near Ashcott churchyard, on the Somerset Levels, and looked to have been out-competed by the native weeds around it. |

| | | Re: Garden campion for ID It is not Silene coeli-rosa (you may find better pics of this by googling it's synonym: Viscaria oculata).
Not sure what it is though. It looks as if it could be a perennial species like Silene schafta - though not this... |

The narrow, almost bedstraw-like leaves certainly fit the images I've managed to find of Phlox subulata, as does the darker pink base to the petals which you can just about see, even though the flowers in the pics I posted are half dead This is about the best image I've found online of [i]P. subulata - I might later be proved wrong but, for now, that's what I'm going to go with
Thanks, Tiggrx | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
