| | | Pyracantha? I found this shrub, presumably self-seeded, along the bank of the River Avon near the Gorge in late April. When I took the photos I assumed it was just another Pyracantha coccinea, but now I've taken another look at it, the serrated leaves just don't seem to fit?
Is there anything else it could be? There's another species, Asian Firethorn ( P. rogersiana) which I can't find any usable images of online - otherwise I'm totally stumped |

It's not a great picture, but this is the only image I've got of Chaenomeles speciosa in leaf; the leaves look a lot rounder than on my Avon Gorge plant, although otherwise the general habit isn't that dissimilar.
I must admit I really don't know what to make of this one now! |

I must admit I really don't know what to make of this one now! | In the gardening world theres probably loads of Chaenomeles hybrids and cultivars as well. From memory I know that theres 3 that occur in the UK |

They look extremely tough to seperate, but as far as I know the basic features (leaf shape etc) are very similar - that's why, though I could be wrong, I don't think this plant is a Chaenomeles. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
