| | | What to do if you find Japanese Knotweed on Council land? I recently have come across a stand of Japanese Knotweed in two places in Hull. I know it is an offence to pull it out yourselves, what are we supposed to do then? should we inform the Council or the Environmental Agency. One of the stands is in a wildlife garden and I would hate it if it took over the place!
Cheers

I'm not aware of it being an offence to pull Japweed yourself, but it's not a good idea to mess about with it unless you know what you're doing, particularly with regard to disposing of the plants. It is an offence to release it into the wild.
Your first ports of call should be to the landowners - who owns the wildlife garden? Japweed is a pig to get rid of, but if the stands are still small it may be possible to deal with it.
