Is this wild basil?

It is a very starved specimen of a Valerian, not sure if it is Common V. or Marsh V. from the picture.

whereabouts did you find that? I have never seen it in Lancashire

It was on July 13th, last year, at either Crosshill or Salthill quarry at Clitheroe.

I visited both locations on that day, but didn't keep a note of specifically which photo's were taken at which quarry.

If I recall correctly though, I think it was at Salthill in the very small open grassy area that's behind the industrial premises. (Just at the Clitheroe end of the line of parking spaces). If it wasn't there, then it was definitely in the actual quarry area at Croshill.

thanks Mike for the directions - must make a visit as have never seen it. I think the plant is most likely the common valerian because I remember seeing some there.
