| | | Difficult one ... Sifting through my burgeoning "Pics to be sorted" folder, I came across this one I took in May this year! It's th only pic I have, so no leaves to help, I just remember it was quite tall, (maybe up to a metre tall?), and, as you can see from the pic, great bunches of flower buds where the main stem branched at the top into several smaller stems .... these yellow flowers all look alike to me, so I will be very impressed if anybody can identify this one .... |

| | | Re: Difficult one ... The 2 pairs of bracts indicate a hawksbeard, Crepis sp. Around May Beaked Hawksbeard is common, but can't see necessary features in photo. This species has beaked achenes (fruits) which is diagnostic |

| | | Re: Difficult one ... Probably as said above but the perennial Sow Thistle Sonchus arvensis might also be a contender though hard to say as basal leaves not really shown.

I'm thinking Smooth Hawk's-beard ~ Crepis capillaris with a height up to 1m it looks the part, although googled images make me think the centre of jezlee's flowers seem to have more petals? |

| | | Re: Difficult one ... I'd hazard a guess at Beaked Hawksbeard, but as I said in earlier post can't be certain without checking fruits (achenes) for diagnostic beak. |
