| | | Re: Gower Spring Flowers I think they're lesser celandine, wood anemone (2 & 3) and cuckoo flower. I wish I was in Gower now! |

| | | Re: Gower Spring Flowers Hi forestelf,
Your first is Lesser Celandine (Ranunculus ficaria), and the second & third are Wood Anemone (Anemone nemorosa).
I'm not absolutely sure on the fourth, but it looks like one of the Stock's, and I'm leaning towards Pinnate Coralroot (Cardimine heptaphylla)
Regards

| | | Re: Gower Spring Flowers I'll agree with all the three ids but I think the 4th is definitely cuckooflower because Pinnate coralroot is much bigger and has dense flowerheads and broader leaves. the flower in the fourth photo only has thin leaves so I'm going with cuckooflower. I don't think its the common coralroot either because theres no bulbils. the pinnate coral root is up at Leighton Moss Mike |

| | | Re: Gower Spring Flowers I think you're right KT.
I had some doubts myself, but the petals seemed not to have the little indent on the margin that Cuckoo Flower petals have.
However, on closer inspection of the photo, I can see a couple of petals which do have the indentation.
I'll have to try to get up to Leighton Moss - perhaps combining the trip with Warton Crag.

Mike. | I'd recommend Woodwell as well because the proper coralroot is all over the side of WoodWell lane. Only in a while though - they were all in bud when I went on Monday |
