| | | Hybrid Violet? I found this violet today and think it may be the hybrid between Common Dog-violet and Early Dog-violet.
It seems to have leaf and flower shape similar to Early D-v and also a purple spur. However the chunky spur and the veining of the lower petal look more like Common D-v characters.
Any opinions gratefully received |

Any opinions gratefully received | sorry I didn't reply to this earlier. I think you are right with the hybrid violet because of the spur chunkiness and veining mostly, but the flower itself is a bit too thin and delicate to be common dog violet - so I think your right with hybrid. |

| | | Re: Hybrid Violet? Sorry to hijack Tiggrx's thread, but I found these violets earlier today and they look to have all the characteristics of Viola x bavarica, the hybrid between Common Dog-violet V. riviniana & Early Dog-violet V. reichenbachiana.
The length of the sepals and dark spur, especially, would suggest to me this was the hybrid, but I was wondering what others think? Is it just wishful thinking on my part? |
