Pines for ID

The first pic was taken at Lady Dixon Park, Belfast in October 2006 and the second was taken in Belvoir Park, Belfast in Oct 2006. IDs anyone?

If you look closely the first are three cones that have been stripped, probably by squirrels!

The first image of the remains of three cones is entirely natural. The cone disintegrates leaving the central stem.

Initially I was thinking Silver Fir (Abies alba) for No.1, but the bracts are not projecting on the few remaining segments of the cones. This being the case, I think they must be Giant Fir - Abies grandis.

No.2 is Lawson's Cypress - Chamaecyparis lawsoniana
