| | | Skunk Cabbage I revisited the site and got a few better photo's of the Skunk Cabbage I found a few days ago. (Couldn't get too close, as I was sinking in the boggy ground - centre pic. is at full zoom).
According to what I've read, it's not yet very common, (in Britain), but is becoming increasingly established in marshy areas, and can grow to a height of about 1.5 metres. (This one is currently about 450mm tall).
I'd be interested to know if anyone else has spotted these anywhere, (particularly in Lancashire).
Regards
Mike. |

| | | Re: Skunk Cabbage It is common enough on my local nature reserve in Birmingham (at Winterborne Gardens) where it is a bit of a thug. I have also seen it on the River Severn near Llandinum in Wales. It spreads very effectively in wet boggy ground and it is not easy to remove.
Cheers
