| | | More New Leaf Growth In a similar vein to Keenteen's Carpet of Leaves Thread, could anyone ID these ?
Found this week, very abundant through out the woods, but always seem to be localised under Beech Trees. I was wondering if in fact they might be Beech saplings just germinating
Regards

| | | Re: More New Leaf Growth I wouldn't have expected so many all at once if they were.
And they would have a crinkly appearance I think, and a different, less elongated shape, and less/no red.
But I don't know for sure.

No wonder it's such a pest, if it's that prolific.

| | | Re: More New Leaf Growth I know that the first leaves of Beech seedlings are nothing like normal Beech leaves, but from my memory they are not quite this shape, though similarly fleshy. But I wouldn't rule them out - keep an eye on them (or pull one up and see if there is a little nut attached).
