| | | Is this Common Field Speedwell? These were growing all over in the grass along a path through a field.
Unfortunately the picture isn't great, but can anyone confirm whether it is Common Field Speedwell - Veronica persica, or what other options I need to consider?
Thanks |

| | | Re: Is this Common Field Speedwell? It doesn't really look like germander to me. The flowers of germander are a really deep blue and they don't have the white middle. I will have to go for grey field speedwell. |

Thanks |

| | | Re: Is this Common Field Speedwell? Probably is V.agrestis. Its been a few months since I've seen any Speedwells. I have seen Germander Speedwell with slightly lighter flowers than usual & one of the stems in the pic looks like it has a couple of rows of hairs, but I'll agree with V.agrestis |

| | | Re: Is this Common Field Speedwell? Looks like Common Field Speedwell, Veronica persica .......the flowers of Green Field Speedwell, V. agrestis are paler, usually white or bluish-white.
Ripe seed-pods can help with speedwell IDs |

| | | Re: Is this Common Field Speedwell? Pity we can't get all these pictures of speedwells that are being sent in sorte and in the Gallery? There seem to be loads of them! Time of year too. Most of them are out now. Here (I hope) is a picture of mine, and I don't know what it is.
Description best. Grows in my lawn and turns it blue. Flowers gentian blue when they open fading to lavender;all petals same intensity. White centres with ring of purple around them penciling out into the blue. Leaves toothed, soft, and fine hairs. This is my favourite and most showy species. Occassionally a pink variation occurs. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
