| | | Gooseberry bushes Out for a cycle ride recently we came upon some gooseberry bushes growing at the side of the road, far from any sign of habitation. Is there such a thing as a wild gooseberry or do you think it was an escapee? Haven't been back to try the fruit yet, but there was certainly plenty in the process of ripening.

| | | Re: Gooseberry bushes Hi.
In the field behind our old house there was a gooseberry bush growing inside a hollow ash tree with tasty fruit on. I suspect most appear due to birds eating the fruit then pooping the seeds. But I would have thought we cultivated the gooseberry from wild plants in the first place but not sure. |

| | | Re: Gooseberry bushes They are believed to be a native species - but there are a lot of escaped bushes around. |
