| | | Help needed to clear my "unidentified" folder! These photos have so far defied my best attempts to put a name to them, so I was hoping the members on here might be able to do a bit better; it'd be great to resolve even a few of them, otherwise they'll be sitting there in my "Unidentified" folder for ever more! 1:
A weed of disturbed ground in an urban park, this one's in the last chance saloon; it's not a great picture so might be unidentifiable, and unless I can get a firm ID here I'll delete it; eight months after taking the photo, the best I've managed to come up with is a tentative suggestion that it might be a Beta species? 2:
This one, taken last summer and without any flowers or fruits to give a clue, originally went down as Shallon ( Gaultheria shallon) and I hadn't questioned it until, a few days ago, I realised the Shallon plants I'd identified from the Avon Gorge were actually Lauristinus ( Viburnum tinus). At a guess, this is probably the same, but I just wanted to double-check before deleting G. shallon from the list... 3:
I've posted this one before without a definite result, it might be that the photo just doesn't show enough detail for a certain ID? |

| | | Re: Help needed to clear my "unidentified" folder! 1) it looks like youve got 2 plants there. I can see some calyxes that look very hemp nettle to me.
2) looks like cherry laurel because of the shiny leaves but not sure if theres a version with sharp leaves like yours.
3) looks very green snowdrop to me (but Im not certain) |

| | | Re: Help needed to clear my "unidentified" folder! The snowdrop is probably a form of Galanthus nivalis but I have a feeling that there is some G. plicatus in its parentage |

| | | Re: Help needed to clear my "unidentified" folder! Those waxy looking leaves seem familiar...Could no.1 be Periwinkle (vinca), with the shoots/suckers having been stunted in some way?

| | | Re: Help needed to clear my "unidentified" folder! is the plant shown in the photo 1 . just one plant? It looks like it has got some hemp nettle or orache like parts to it but the leaves don't ring any bells
EDIT: I have checked BWF and have come up with common orache. the leaves look right apart from some of yours being partly eaten http://www.british-wild-flowers.co.u...mmon%20(2).htm
The photo in the middle of the link looks like yours.

| | | Re: Help needed to clear my "unidentified" folder! and the shrub looks very much like Laurustinus compared to the photos I have seen. I hope I haven't confused things with my earlier cherry laurel suggestion | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
