Type of Grass and a Plantain

These photos were taken the middle of May 2008 in a grassy area near the coast of County Down at Crawfordsburn. The first is a type of grass and I think the second, from looking at pics in books, may be Greater Plantain. Anyway, help is needed with IDs.

The first grass is very purply and that reminds me of meadow foxtail. but grasses are NOT my strong point!!

I'm wondering if the second plant is actually an arrowgrass, perhaps sea arrowgrass?
