| | | Galanthus Query I have seen different forms of snowdrops recently, there are the smaller garden ones that usually are greyer green in stem colour and there are the bigger ones that have bigger flowers and brighter green. These are usually in wilder areas.
Greyer ones (from Gallery)
I have heard of green snowdrop |

| | | Re: Galanthus Query I've just had a look in the WAB Gallery, but can't find any photos of the Green Snowdrop, Galanthus ikariae. There is also the Pleated Snowdrop, Galanthus plicatus and the Greater Snowdrop, Galanthus Elwesii, again I can't find photos.
For pictures and some information about them, there is a website I often use as a start for flower IDs, UK Wildflowers. Latin Index ukwildflowers |

| | | Re: Galanthus Query Here is a picture of the Green Snowdrop, now called Galanthus woronowii - note the relatively wide bright green leaves
Also to compare here is a picture of Galanthus elwesii - note the wider greyish leaves. Usually this species has a green spot at the base of the inner tepals as well as at the tip, but the var. monostictus (syn. G. caucasicus) has only the spot at the tip as in this pic - sorry about the poor specimen
I am also including an image of Galanthus plicatus, but unfortunately this picture doesn't show the distinguishing characteristics |
