A Proper ID Thread Butchers Broom

Now a proper plant requiring ID. I found this today and can't tell whether it is bilberry or butchers broom. There was lots of it on the hill. It grew to quite a height as well. My instincts are saying bilberry but I am hoping its butchers broom.

mmmmm, agree BB - good find!
Def not bilberry in fruit at this time of year, just generally wrong too - unusual though, nice one KT.

Have a look at dkimages - discover - plants - Ruscus aculeatus (Butcher's Broom)

for a good image of BB.

Mind you, I'm not in a position to offer an ID!

that pics not too far out ?
Alternate leaves, berries right, height, slightly woody evergreen all point in BB direction?
Although berries should be more distinct, following the flowers in the leaves.
The problem is , I cant think of anything else so similar!

But I can now - PH looks close, member of ericas?
