| | | A Proper ID Thread Butchers Broom Now a proper plant requiring ID. I found this today and can't tell whether it is bilberry or butchers broom. There was lots of it on the hill. It grew to quite a height as well. My instincts are saying bilberry but I am hoping its butchers broom.

Def not bilberry in fruit at this time of year, just generally wrong too - unusual though, nice one KT.

Alternate leaves, berries right, height, slightly woody evergreen all point in BB direction?
Although berries should be more distinct, following the flowers in the leaves.
The problem is , I cant think of anything else so similar! 
But I can now - PH looks close, member of ericas?
