Just came across this image of a thistle like plant taken earlier in the year at Barafundle Bay, Wales. Can anyone put a name to it please?

wow this is interesting! I think its something originally from over the seas - definately not a common native here......but im not sure about a species.....Ill be interested to see what people say on this one!

Interesting that the stem is so long. The Carline Thistles I meet on chalk downland have hardly any stem at all, and you only discover them when you sit on them when eating your sandwiches!
