| | | Broad-leaved Helleborine Hello,as you can see i've been on a Helleborine mission
The Broad-leaved Helleborines i photographed today were found by going to a site suggested by Andy Warne,so once again thanks Andy.
This was the best of the bunch coz all the Broad-leaved Helleborines had lost their flowers & i was only able to find three plants had a couple of flowers still out on the top of their spikes.

| | | Re: Broad-leaved Helleborine Ah. But you'll know for next year. I'm definitely going to have a go at capturing them in 2007 when the orchid season starts. I have been inspired by yours and others pictures. So well done and thanks. WW

| Yo Wild-Woman,yep i'll be back there next year for sure.I found some really big BL Helleborines there, one was just under a metre tall, which is huge.
If you want to get photographing now,you will still be able to find Violet,Broad-leaved,Green-flowered Helleborines & the beautiful Autumn Lady's-tresses should be just starting to flower now.So you've got a few opportunities still left to you.So i reckon get out there & get hunting. It's great fun, lol. You're in an excellent area for orchids & should be able to find loads of species next year.

| | | Re: Broad-leaved Helleborine Another nice one John. I hope I'll be back on my feet to get some shots of the Autumn Lady's-tresses. I know where some grow in a local cemetry so the walk won't be too far.

| Wow that sounds pretty cool.As soon as i read it,i thought what a great photo a Autumn-lady's Tresses against an old gravestone would make.If you go down there & find that there is a Autumn-lady's Tresses infront of a gravestone then can you PM the details coz i would seriously love to get a photo like that.Would be really different & unusual.
I hope you feel better soon Kev.

Good to see the orchid hunt still in full bloom!
Managed to capture a broadleaved helleborine myself last week in the New Forest. Like yours only a couple of flowers were left though. I now know where to head next year!
Yes we still have a few more orchids to capture, the autumn tresses will be out in the next week or so for instance. After that we will have to wait for next years crop!

| Yeah Ian i'm still hunting out the last few later flowering orchids.
That's cool you found a Broad-Leaved in the New Forest.I'm guessing that due to the very hot & dry weather, the BL Helleborines dried out & faded pretty quick.
Like you i've now found a good spot & will definately be returning next year.I found one plant that stood at least 90cm high, which is a whopper, lol. So i'm looking forward to seeing that one in flower next year.
I'm off today to try & get some photos of Autumn-lady'sTresses.Then no more orchids til next year, gutting, lol.
