| | | Unidentified Plants Growing In My Garden Hello Everyone, I haven't posted for a while.
A couple of weeks ago I was working in the garden and noticed a tree branch growing high at the back, where I can't get to. It is covered in bright yellow, shiny 'fruit' about 3cm in size. Today there was a blackbird eating them. Does anyone know what this is?
Also spotted what looked like a particularly vicious large leaved, thick stemmed bramble(?) growing in a border. |

Your "berry tree" looks like some kind of ornamental crab apple - there are loads of them, mostly hybrids between various Chinese species, in gardens these days, but there's a common one called "Golden Hornet" which seems to match your photo.
The bramble I'd say was Cut-leaved Bramble, Rubus laciniatus - an introduced species probably from Europe and one of the most distinctive ones. |

| | | Re: Unidentified Plants Growing In My Garden Thank you to davidbr and aeshna5 for your replies.
I'm quite happy to keep the crab apple, especially as the birds are eating them. The lady who lived here before me planted a lot of plants to assist birds and like her, I feed them daily.
Not so sure about keeping the bramble though, as I don't find in very attractive. To me it looks like the type of bramble I imagine when reading fairy tales, when the prince has to use his sword to cut through the thick stems to get to the awaiting damsel in distress! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
