| | | Buttercups in December ???? is this a buttercup, and if so, is it unusual to be flowering in december??
it was found today in grass at edge of footpath between two pine plantations in Clumber Park in very frost conditions, there was plenty of leaf growth and 2 or 3 more flowers present,

| | | Re: Buttercups in December ???? Hi Brian,
Due to the short flower height, and as the terminal leaf on the right of the pic. is stalked, I would say this is a Creeping Buttercup, Ranunculus repens.
Not unusual for these to still be in flower in December, and they can go all through winter if it remains mild enough.
Regards

Mike. | Hi Mike, thanks for the confirmation, as you probably guessed , i know next to nothing about flowers, its just that it seemed unusual for it to be flowering
this late, as i associate buttercups with full summer, and it was very frosty this morning!!
the patch of flowers were in the one spot that the sun fell on the footpath due to some of the pines being blown down in a storm last year,
