Dear All,

Found these orchids on chalk downland in May this year. Are they two different species or just variants of the same? The first two pictures are of the same plant.

They are Early Purple Orchids - some are more strongly marked than others but the lip shape and 'wings' remain constant...........

Both 1+2 are Early purple orchids, Orchis mascula

early purples definitely. the green winged orchid has green hoods over the lip
