| | | chicory
Hi all,
Found this plant a week ago growing next to a fresh water pond about 1 mile from the sea.
The plant had a stiff stem upright and grooved. It stood about 4 feet, the striking blue flowers grow out from the stem at the point where the leaf was attached.
The whole plant was noticeably stiff and easily supported itself in quite a stong breeze.
I think it may be chicory. There was also buds attached that resembled hops.
can anyone either confirm or correct my id

It could possibly be naturaised at the location you found it, but it has been introduced at quite a few places in Lancashire.
Regards
Mike. |
