Exactly what causes this is still not certain, but it's thought that it is could be be mutation caused by bacteria, virus, insects or even the weather.
I think WAB has probably added to the list of plants known to have been affected by this phenomenon.

That is interesting and confirms my suspicion.
I suspect we will never find a quantative answer but 6 amongst hundreds of "normal" ones in the same small area?? does make you ponder!!

It's an alba variant of Early-purple orchid, but with spots on the lip and spotted leaves. There were several of these growing with 100+ normal plants.
