| | | Re: Pin oak? id help needed I thought it was Q. rubra as well. A frequently planted street & park tree. These are what the Americans call "Black Oaks", and the acorns develop over 2 years. Our own native oaks belong to the "White Oak" group. |

As well as being a popular street tree it's also widely planted in forestry (presumably to hide ugly conifers) and frequently naturalised - central Wales & the Brecons seems to be an exceptionally good area for finding naturalised specimens, but the map on BSBI's website suggests they're widespread. |  | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
