| | | Site in NW for Birdsnest Orchid? any sites in Lancashire for birds nest orchid? Me and my mate went to Smardale in Cumbria to look for them but couldn't find any not even a skeleton!
Are there any sites for ones that are easy to find eg. in a park or next to path in NR? |

| | | Re: Site in NW for Birdsnest Orchid? Hi,
Although not exactly North West, we found them in Grass Wood, near Grassington in South Yorkshire, Although it may not have been a very good year for them, as we only found 1 stalk of it!
We were a bit early, as they weren't fully open yet. We were there on the 24.05.08. |

| | | Re: Site in NW for Birdsnest Orchid? wow. thanks. I'll pass on that site to my friend because he has been after BNO for quite a few years now. Was it easy to find or was it in the middle of a wood the size of a city? |

| | | Re: Site in NW for Birdsnest Orchid? Chris,
Could you possibly give me some info on where this "public viewing" point is?
I saw part of a report about this on Look North West some weeks back, but didn't catch the beginning where they presumably gave location details.
I'd like to have a look at the plant next year.
Regards
Mike. |

| | | Re: Site in NW for Birdsnest Orchid? Hi all,
not sure where the natural world protection laws and thought police stand at the moment with rarities location talked about on a public website for the likes of ladys slipper - you know what collectors can be like -rare plants and birds eggs too. Some caution maybe? just a thought.

As far as I know the site in Yorkshire is on private land and has not been or likely to be viewable for the general public. You may not agree with that but there is little point cracking on about it.
All the best
