Unidentified umbellifer 
I thought the distinctive leaves would make this easy...but I cant seem to figure out what it is! |

Not an umbellifer, but a composite- it's Yarrow, Achillea millefolia. Technically the flower is a corymb not an umbel! |

Thanks, so it is!...I should have noticed that the flowers were composites, but i just took in the general appearance of the plant and jumped to the conclusion that it must be of the carrot family |

yarrow it is - they seem to be flowering for ages this year
