you are sooooo lucky!! I spent ages looking for one fo these and never found one - even at a place where they were growing!!

We didn't find anything!  |

(You don't need to go on about all the amazing flowers you find on the sand dunes of Lancs  - I know already and can't wait to get over there next year

Thanks everyone. Really glad that the ID is confirmed. I will try to go back this week and see if the flowers have opened more. There were three plants, all in bud. I had been pointed in the right direction by one of the heath reserve wardens (always worth asking the experts), as other friends had been roaming around for ages and hadn't spotted them. I was lucky! |

Great find there. Quite a rare plant I believe. Saw a few plants coming up in the new forest a few weeks back but haven't seen it in flower this year. |

Thanks DS, was that from the site we visited the other week?
They seem a bit late this year.
Tigger the advantage I have is that I have seen these both in the New Forest and near to home in Norfolk over the last few years! Now if it had been a early gentian or one of the others I haven't seen yet....  | | | |
