| | | Early Blackberries? hi , i saw my first --and ate-- my first blackberries at rspb sandwell valley on july 24th! never seen blackberries that early before. also the mountain ash or rowan trees seem to be really loaded with red berries this year . and also seen first tinting -leaves changing colour -- this week on aug 19th on horse chestnut,rowan,silver birch, sycamore and lime and on 21st beech . sue |

| | | re: Early Blackberries? Not noticed any changes in leaf colour just yet but have a feeling it wont be too long now! Horse chestnut leaves tend to be one of the first to turn and they always seemed to change colour at the end of August when I was living in East Sussex.
there are lots of heavily loaded rowan trees round here too and huge blackberries

with the exception of winter aconite and winter heliotrope

| | re: Early Blackberries? hi everyone , nice to hear from you . i suppose things change at different times in different parts of the country . i hate the winter --except for winter birds that come in and i`m hoping for a possible good influx of waxwings this year ! plenty of berries about . i`ve heard of winter aconite . i dont like dark cold nights , many dull days and grey skies . i do like the sunny days though with blue skies even it is is freezing ! going birding in the morning then to sandwell show on monday --hope no rain!. can somone tell me a very easy way to get an avatar ---i`d like a scottish flag. my computr skills are not o good so dont really understand how to get one someone on another forum gave me a web to get one but i`ve no idea how to do it ! must be really thick! thanks sue |

| | | re: Early Blackberries? Just click on 'control' at the top left of the website and scroll down to 'edit avatar' then simply follow the instructions - you will need to have the photo in your pictures or documents and then simply select it and it will be uploaded.

mike | find the picture on the web, right click on it and select 'save picture as'. Then when you are uploading it later (following young hunters instsructions) you can find it in your documents

mike | hi mike thanks for your message and how to get an avatar , i got to control panel then to edit avatar then was completely lost so gave up . i guess its too complicated for a beginner like me and dont understand half of whats there . i started to feel stressed out and frustrated so decided its not worth it . i`m just too stupid so will leave it . never mind ,not the end of the world. sue . |

Also i just got back from newcastle today and i can tell you even up there in the chilly northeast the blackberries are ripe. |

went to Lunt roman fort today and its a great reconstruction of what it was like. there are still traces of buildings and a huge "Circus" where horses were trained ---this is where the modern day circus was from. then we filled a bag full of blackberries!! hundreds of them! better leave some for the birds. very tired now and throat hurts so i`ll sign off as i`m making silly mistakes , sue, |
