Plants seem to flower earlier here in Devon. I went to see Marsh Helleborines four years ago thinkinkig mid July would be best but they were all shivelled up. I now go in mid June and they are at there best but the books say july to august.

Sylv | The marsh helleborines are usually at there best around here in July. Last year I saw some good specimens still in full flower in the last week of July along with lots of marsh fragrant orchids too!
I'm not surprised that Sylv sees them in June though, Devon is a bit milder than over here during the winter! |

The picture below is one I took a couple of years ago, it was too wet and windy to get a decent photo today. |

| | | Re: Flower of the day Various flowers from yesterday's walk around Malham & Goredale.
Most ofthe photo's have needed extreme surgery, in the post camera sharpening & edge definition departments.
There were consistently strong and gusty winds throughout the day, which played havoc with intended exposure settings.

| | | Re: Flower of the day It has to be common cornsalad for me. I have never seen it in flower here in Norwich before this evening, yet I see tons of it around Oxford each spring.
There were two patches of the plant one in a small front garden spilling out onto the footpath and the second was a plant growing in a crack at the wall/pavement junction. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
