Re: Flower of the day
On Wednesday evening I went to Monks Wood near Huntingdon, on my usual quest for Early Purple Orchids. I only found 1 in the spot that I usually see them where I've seen between 1 and 6 in the previous few years when I've looked for them, but when I decided to continue on a walk round the wood I quickly found 2 more along a path I have often walked before and never seen any orchids. A little further along the path there was a whole cluster of them, over 30. I then went down a couple of paths I'd not walked before and found another cluster of 15 or so. Altogether I saw 55 Early Purple Orchids.
Bugle was another one that was new for the year, and I also saw some more Cuckooflowers. A few Cowslips, Primroses and Wood Anemones, plenty of Greater Stitchwort and gazillions of Bluebells.
