| | | Another Bellflower This keys out as Clustered Bellflower Campanula glomerata and certainly seem to have the right characteristics - hairless corolla, lobes roughly equal to tube in length, flower not stalked, supplementary flowers lower down stem, stalked lower leaves, clasping mid-stem leaves, style not exceeding corolla etc.
According to our local plant atlas (Vice County 64) in this area it's only really found on magnesian limestone much further to the east (I'm near Malham Tarn, just above Settle). It's growing in limestone chippings in the garden, as far as I know there are no others anywhere near here. I'm assuming it could be a garden variety of this plant introduced accidently rather than the real McCoy. Does anyone know this plant well enough to help confirm this?

| | | Re: Another Bellflower That looks like Campanula glomerata to me, I am over to the East and on Limestone, and we have it locally (confirmed by someone who knows what they are doing), so I would say you are right. |

| | | Re: Another Bellflower Looks like clustered bellflower to me too, but I have only seen it on southern limestones, certainly never on the Craven Carboniferous Limestone.

Regards, Chris | Nor me that's why I was unsure about it - might have to find out where the limestone chippings came from. I always assumed they were local but perhaps they come from further afield.
Thanks to you all for confirming the ID.

| | | Re: Another Bellflower I'd go with Campanula glomerata too.
I grew this cultivar a few years ago and the insects adored it!

| | | Re: Another Bellflower Nice find. I always enjoy finding something that raises questions beyond an ID. Why it's there and how it got there will be an interesting investigation. Let us know how you get on. |
