| | | Phacelia tanacetifolia? This flower looks like Phacelia tanacetifolia (is the common name Scorpion Weed?), but the leaves seem wrong. Can anyone assist? |

| | | Re: Phacelia tanacetifolia? Thanks Nick. Viper's-bugloss is a new one to me. I believe it's not too common. Mine was in the limestone garden at Rainton Meadows where I found a few plants that are new to be during my recent visits.
I'm intrigued by Phacelia tanacetifolia which I have found on two locations on arable area near East Rainton/Rainton Meadows but nowhere else. The plant is not contained in Wild Flower Key. I am aware of its uses but I am still trying to contact the farmer to try and find out how and why it got here.
If anyone else is interested in Phacelia tanacetifolia please let me know, particularly if found in North East England.
In the threads where Phacelia tanacetifolia is mentioned it's always referred to by its latin name. I understand that it is called Scorpion Weed, is that correct and does it have any other local names? |

| | | Re: Phacelia tanacetifolia? Vipers bugloss is everywhere on Romney Marsh down here in the wilds of Kent. Along the coast towards Dungeness and out on the shingle beds it grows in profusion!
Another lovely plant that grows there is Long Horned Poppies, spectacular plants!
As if these two lovely plants were not enough, I saw a Hoopoo strutting his/her stuff there a couple of years ago!
Isn't nature wonderful!
