also the stem looks far too triangular for one of the yellow sedges. I don't think it would be found commonly in your part of the world either, it's a plant of base rich habitats, calcareous fens and mires etc.
I'm going to suggest a couple of alternatives, but tentatively as they're species we don't get here in the Dales. One is False Fox-sedge Carex otrubae and the other Spiked Sedge Carex spicata. Both should occur around you but you probably need a better opinion from one of the more southern botanists before you could be sure.
Good luck with getting a more positive ID.
