| | | Strange disease? on Stinging Nettles Walking through Millar's Dale in the High Peak we found quite a few stems of nettles with a hard beige tube like growths which caused the stem above it to bend the netle above the growth and the rest of plant looked fine, was it an insect covering? we couldn't see any sign of exit if it was a pupa. Will rty and get photo from fellow walker to assist with ID |

Was it like this? If so it's Nettle Rust Puccinia urticata - a fungal infection. Also on the leaves:
