I took this photo of what I believe is a Poppy in an hedgerow of a country lane, but I'm unable to ID it from my book on wild flowers, so I was wondering if it could be a cultivated variety that had somehow found its way into the wild. 
Any help with IDing this would be appreciated.

Difficult to get a real feel of it from the photo, but maybe one of the cultivated forms of Field Poppy, Papaver rhoeas. |

I have noticed a decline in red poppies and an increase in yellow ones this year, is this just local or widespread?

your right ron. I have only ever seen one red poppy this year.
I have seen the yellow (welsh), orange (?) and other red (oriental) poppies this year. | | |
