| | | Intense Purple Flower very small and spotted high up in the mountains in Cumbria.
Completely new to me. If anyone knows of what flower it is I'd be most grateful.
Sorry I didn't have my camera with me at the time.
Cheers

| | | Re: Intense Purple Flower Hi Jez - did you check out Gentians as a possibility?
The link below lists UK species and gives distribution maps and access to images.... http://www.botanicalkeys.co.uk...Gentians
Could be Felwort / Autumn Gentian, Gentianella amarella

| | | Re: Intense Purple Flower Hi,
Thanks all for you help. It was back in may that I came across the plant & have a feeling it could be Heath Lobelia?
Could this be the plant in question?
I'll have to go back same time next year to check up on it for sure but hope we can come to the answer here before hand.
I have tried the flora search site which is handy but sadly to no avail for me this time around!
Cheers

Two inches tall, single flower, metallic - I think I might have cracked it for you:
What do you think? If so it's an interesting plant, one of our carnivorous ones with bright green starfish like leaves in a basal rosette. Alongside a Gill would be typical habitat.
Butterwort - Pinguicula vulgaris
