Re: I.D please

I'm not sure about the first one but the second looks like either nettle leaved bellflower or clustered bellflower

The first is Bears-Breeches - Acanthus species - garden escape and a stunning looking plant!

I'd say nettle-leaved bellflower for the first one

Re: I.D please

Thanks for the I.D peeps.

The second one did look like a nettle with a large bluebell flower - the flower smelt pleasent too.

The first was growing on a verge next to a country lane.

Punt at Common Fumitory? Common arable weed (plant) that can smother a field.

Looks like a contender. Though it wasn't flowering and i only noticed it on the disturbed ground were the henbane was. Also it remained low to the ground.

As is visable, there is alot of ragwort on either side of this strip, so maybe it is possible it might be ragwort??

Jenni, Meta, if its of any help this strip of land i believe might be there for the conservation of arable weed's, so it might be a rare plant, though probably not

It looks too fine-boned for ragwort. When was this taken?

Its a very young rosette, a couple of weeks at the most, and though it wasn't very hairy it did have hairs but these were towards the center of the plant, considering i don't have the greatest camera and this was a distant shot, i was not likely to capture these sticky things. As it grows it will become more hairy and the leaves will become much bigger.

If the pic is recent and Phacelia tanacetifolia shouldn't it be flowering? They are around my way.

You know what, i think you might be right. The way it was growing looks similiar, the habitat is similiar, the locations is excellent, and the soil was nutrient rich.
