Orchids in Supermarket Car Park

Hi all,
At the local Asda, there is a scrubby bank at one end of the car park which for the past two years has had a small number of flowering spikes of Bee Orchids. I popped up there earlier this week and was happy to find 4 spikes of Bee Orchid for a 3rd year, plus a as yet unid'd hybrid of between possibly Common Spotted and unknown other species of orchid.

I will try and post some pictures of the Bees and the hybrid(which only had one flower that was starting to go over, the rest in 'seed pod' formation stage).

Its good to know that whilst even doing mundane tasks like shopping, you get the occasionaly surprise!

Some of these commoner orchids can turn up in surprising places + always give great joy when you discover them. I've got some Bee Orchids near me growing on what was a lorry parking area + I always enjoy looking each May/June to see how they are doing!

Yes, that's nice to hear. Nature has a way of surprising us sometimes. It would be nice to see the pics.

Yer I've just had a nice suprise - I found 3 pyramidal orchids in the garden!! we only had one last year...
