Orchid ID please

I think this is a Pyramidal Orchid - Anacamptis pyramidalis but would appreciate confirmation.

Re: Orchid ID please

Are you sure? Never seen one this large before, usually they are neat triangles of flowers. Could it be a hybrid of some sort?

Re: Orchid ID please

A pic of the leaves might help. Could be Southern marsh ?

Re: Orchid ID please

Looks very like Gymnadenia conopsea, Fragrant Orchid, to me. Far too long a spike for Orchis pyramidalis. I think I can see the beginnings of a long spur, too.

Re: Orchid ID please

I take back my doubts, it is a Pyramidal Orchid. Having looked at pictures on the web it can develop into a long sausage shape like this and the flowers are spot on.

Re: Orchid ID please

Definitely pyramidal orchid, albeit a rather robust specimen.
