A couple of wildflowers for id please

Hi, I'm trying to teach myself wildflowers (with the help of Rose's Wild Flower Key which is becoming my bible!). Not sure about these two though, the second was growing in the edge of a pond.

The first looks like an escape to me.
The second is purple loosestrife

As Ian says the 2nd is Purple Loosestrife.

Where was the first plant? It looks like a form of Verbena to me, many of which are popular garden plants.

The top flower sure does look like a cultivated Verbena, as aeshna5 has mentioned.

the other flower I also echo Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria)

thanks for the replies. both plants were in Dinton Pastures, near Reading. I suppose garden escapes could have established as there are plenty of houses fairly nearby..
