And 6-8 were in a damp area of limestone. The area for images 1-5 was Langstrothdale, the area for images 68 was the Ribble valley. |

| | | Re: Help With Plant ID - Yorkshire Dales I was thinking about Sedum villosum for 6,7 & 8 - I think the 6th petal in number 6 is just abberant there seem to be only 5 stigma.
I wondered about one of the odd saxifrages for number 1-3. It almost looks like a dwarf version of London Pride. There's a thing called Pyrenean Saxifrage that occurs in Heselden Gill that looks vaguely similar in the books. I've never actually seen it myself so it's only a wild guess really.

You could try Googling this one, but I think it's a cultivated plant. |

I think we are getting closer . The leaf rosettes seem to be very similar at least. |

So you are just left with the leaf to id? | Pretty much so, the leaves appear to be diognostic. Looking through Stace there are aspects of the flower that helps narrow it down to a few species.
For example:
a) Petals white to cream
b) Flowers actinomorphic
c) Ovary partly inferior (sepals arising from its side or top)
d) Leaves all in basal rosette
These three couplets narrows identification down to Saxifraga paniculata or Saxifraga nivalis. The actual structure of the leaves clinch the identification. |

Thanks for that.
