Hi Mrs Fish.

The stems look winged to me so, Water Figwort Scrophularia auriculata.

Cool , I have not heard of it let alone seen it

The canal was dredged two years ago and I have wondering if seeds were dredged up and have germinated ?
Plus the ground has been very well fertilized with the silt

This looks like the plant that the Mullein moth caterpillars (I photographed) were eating a couple of weeks ago. I am also glad of the id.
