| | | Walk on the Downs We went for a walk on our local downs on Sunday.
I was mainly on the lookout for skylarks but I was amazed to see a huge amount of Greater Yellow Rattle - Rhinanthus angustifolius.
There were acres of it but I thought it was quite rare!
(If anyone knows what the tall elegant red flower is in that pic I would be very grateful!  )
We also saw quite a few Pyramidal Orchids which are really beautiful.
And another tall elegant unknown flower - white this time, with a fernlike leaf low down on the ground.  |
