Hi

does anyone know why this daisy has gone like this? There were just two flower heads like it.
Just genetic?

I've seen ones like that as well. I've always thought its genetic and these sort could have been used in the selection process for producing the garden varieties we have now. But I could be wrong.

Does anyone know if this could be a case of "hen and chickens", when a random mutation in the flower occurs during flower initiation or formation, and the flower develops beyond the stage at which it usually ceases? I do know this is most often found in the Asteraceae - the daisy family, and other families with closely grouped inflorescences.
