| | | Unknown orchid Looking for fungi the other day I came across this orchid. I have only seen the early Purple in the past and I don't think this is the same. Can anyone help.

| | | Re: Unknown orchid The sheathing leaves up the stem and long spur to the flower look like Early Purple Orchid to me - but I'm never entirely happy about ID'ing orchids because of all the hybrids and limited range we get up here means that there's a lot I'm not familiar with.

to me first pic is Early Purple Orchid and the other two are Common Spotted.

Rob is right, the first one is Early Purple (Orchis mascula) and the second is Common Spotted (Dactylorhiza fuchsii)

Actually, that reminds me- I know you're in Suffolk Teresa, and I was wondering whether you could PM me, or tell me on here if there are any good sites for Orchids- I'd love to make a project on them  I remember I found an orchid on the Orwell Walk a few years ago- before I knew anything about Wildflowers...
