| | | What plant did this? Numbness and inflammation Hello - new member here. I am hoping someone may be able to help me figure out what could have caused my finger tip to be numb and have swelling, inflammation etc. (On a side note, the doctor has given me antibiotics which seem to have reduced the main problem).
I visited a lake in West Sussex (Arundel) and touched various plants in a search for a dock leaf to help a child that had been stung by nettles. No problem noticed at the time, but later the finger tip numbness / soreness and creeping swelling / inflammation came on. Under a magnifying glass I noticed very tiny black hairs on my finger ends.
Thank you in advance for your time. |

I'm sure I've handled them and lots of kids do too. Could that be dangerous? |

Yes but some are more irritating than others and some people are more sensitive than others. e.g. Brown Tail Moth
Most will cause mild urticaria which responds to antihistamine cream.
In Gee's case, there may be a complicating factor insofar as the symptoms are responding to antibiotics so possibly a secondary infection? |
