| | | Very small, low growing, with red trumpet flowers? In a flower pot, (an incredibly dry flower pot I might add, holding a bay leaf standard) I have what would normally be taken for a weed - seedling, very small pairs of oval green leaves with a hint of red edging, 5mm across. The plant is about 1 - 2 cm in height. There are not many stems. At the top of a few stems a red trumpet/bell flower is pointing upwards to the sky inside the bell is a few lines of yellow to the centre. The flowers are big compared to the plant about 10 - 15 mm tall. Just below the flower is a little wax-like red flower from which the big flower seems to have emerged.
I took some pics but can't post them yet, hoping for an ID without the pics
Thanks.

| | | Re: Very small, low growing, with red trumpet flowers? No, this is an old pot, many years without repotting and apparently this little flower returns year on year in this pot (I haven't noticed it before but someone else said this). |

However, Scarlet Pimpernels do have five definitely visible sepals below the petals, which this plant doesn't.
I think this is some type of alpine.

All the best
