| | | Cherry tree problem Need a cherry tree expert, please
I have been noticing that a fare few of the cherry tree's growing in the area happen to have cherries - the strange thing is that these tree's are to the best of my knowledge ornimental cherry tree's and i can say for sure that they have never had cherries growing on them in the past. Cherry tree's happen to be one of the councils fav tree to plant and most of these tree's are at least 10 year old.
#Why have some of these tree's started growing cherries?? |

Adam | DOnt know what specie it is but the council plant them everywere - i was round near a friends today and there are a few mature tree's there that have been there about 15 years - i used to always hang around there and when i was younger we even climed those tree's. Well much to my supprise two of the three tree's have cherries on them - never have they had them before.
I am at a serious loss as to why all these tree's have decided to all of a sudden grow cherries. |

| | | Re: Cherry tree problem Possibly, they are only just mature enough to produce fruit, though 15 years sounds a bit excessive.

Cheers,
Adam | What's excessive? These tree's are old - well the one's by my friends are. Most of the cherry tree's in the area though are between 8 - 15 years. None have produced fruit. These are ornimental cherry tree's so why now in 2008 have some of them produced fruit... what has happened to make them do this
Up by my relitives in the North East cherry tree's are also a common tree planted by the local council, but these tree's fruit every year almost without fail - there is not a street without at least one cherry tree.
The tree in the picture i posted is apprx 4-5 meters (12-15ft) in hight.
Here is a picture of some of the tree's that belong to that particular stretch of cherry tree's that the original picture was taken.
These flowers had a litle more pink then what is visable - the cam phone i used was pretty poor
